Allotments can provide a wide range of benefits to tenants, communities, the environment and to wildlife. Taking on an allotment provides opportunity to produce your own inexpensive food, take physical exercise, learn new skills, develop a sense of well-being and to make new friends. The Town Council has an annual allotment competition, rewarding the best plots on the allotment sites with a cup and vouchers for a local garden centre.
Launceston Town Council manages three allotment sites, at Dutson (Prince Charles Close), Kensey (Kensey Hill) and Grammers Park (Upper Chapel).
Charges for the Dutson and Grammers Park Allotments are just £35 per year. Charges for the Kensey Allotments are £40 Full Plot / £20 Half Plot per year. A one off, non-refundable administration charge of £10 is payable by all new tenants. All of the allotment gardens have a water supply included in the annual charge. The allotments are re-let in January each year and existing tenants will be able to renew their agreement as long as they have worked and maintained their plot the previous year. Please contact us if you are interested in taking on an allotment, should the allotments be fully occupied, you will be put on a Waiting List.
